The Charleston Battery

 

The Charleston Battery is a US professional men's soccer team based in Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery Soccer Club began in 1992 but in 1993 became a member of the PDSL, and joined the USL First Division in 1997.  The team's home field is Blackbaud Stadium which was built in 1999 and was the first professional soccer specific stadium in the USL First Division.  The colors of the Battery are yellow, black and red.  The Battery won the PDSL championship in 1996 and the A-League championship in 2003, defeating the Minnesota Thunder 3-0 to win the A-league title.  The season runs from March to September.

The Charleston Riverdogs

 

The Charleston RiverDogs are a Minor League Baseball team based in Charleston, SC. They play in the class A South Atlantic League and are an affiliate of the New York Yankees. Their home stadium is at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.  Through solid ownership, the RiverDogs are home to what is consistently voted the best ballpark in the Southeast, and also subsidizes ticket and refreshment sales, keeping prices low and contributing most of the proceeds generated from concessions to local schools and charities.  The season runs from April to September.

 

The SC Stingrays

 

The South Carolina Stingrays are an ECHL team based in North Charleston, SC, a suburb of the metropolitan area of Charleston and have become one of the longest established teams in the ECHL.  Since 2004, the team has been affiliated with the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League. 

The Stingrays play their home games at the North Charleston Coliseum.  The ECHL team began in 1993 and has won two ECHL Kelly Cup Championships, in 1997 and 2001.  They are the first ECHL team in the 17-year history to win both a regular season and postseason championship in the same year. (Alaska, in 2006, is the other.)

 

Carolina Sandsharks

 

The Carolina Sandsharks are a professional indoor football team based in North Charleston, South Carolina. The team played in the National Indoor Football League for 2006 as the Charleston Sandsharks, then months after leaving the NIFL, they joined the American Indoor Football Association as the "Carolina" Sandsharks. The owners later decided to not play until the 2008 season for financial reasons.

They play their home games at the "The Shark Tank" which is at the North Charleston Coliseum.  Their signature line is "Get ready for a serious shark attack"
